Support Exeter rugby - help us appoint a specialised coach to our Saturday Programme

The origins of Exeter University Rugby Football Club can be traced back to the old sides of St Luke's College, with the first rugby match taking place in 1860 against Exeter Grammar School. Since then, the University of Exeter has become renowned as a leading rugby institution with many students going on to play professionally, and close links being forged with local Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.

Drawing on this rich history, EURFC is now calling on its supporters far and wide to help bring about the Club’s future success. With the recent expansion of the rugby programme at Exeter and the level of National League Rugby the club now competes at, we want to add an additional specialised coach to our Men's Saturday Programme to allow more detailed and specific coaching for the 2024/25 season. We need the help of our alumni network, and Exeter rugby fans the world over, to bring this expansion about.

EURFC

With 10 men’s and 3 women’s teams, EURFC provides the opportunity for players of all abilities to compete at University level. The Club’s Men's Saturday League side compete in National 2 West, having been promoted as champions from the South West Premier in 2022.

This is the highest level that the club has played at in the English rugby pyramid. With the opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition, this will allow more players to gain high-level rugby experience during their time at university. Securing a specialised coach for this team is now a top priority for the Club, and we need your support to make it happen.

Rugby alumni network

EURFC’s Men’s Rugby Club offers its former members a variety of opportunities to re-engage with the Club throughout the year. During the BUCS season, alumni are invited to attend the Club’s annual February fixture at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park. The University's event listings show all alumni events taking place.

Where will the money go?

We are raising £12,000 to cover a full year’s coaching costs for an additional specialised coach for our Men's Saturday rugby programme. This coach will work on Monday Nights, Thursday Nights, and Saturdays across a full season.

If all our rugby alumni donated just £5 a month, we would reach our target!
