University of Exeter Rugby Club (EURFC) are planning a specialised high-altitude training camp for 35 of our elite students athletes this Summer. We plan to take 35 of our rugby players to Tignes in the French Alps for 8 days of intense high-altitude training at the Apex Elite Training Centre, a state-of-the-art performance and rehab facility.
This trip provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for our elite athletes to push their fitness to the next level whilst providing a unique team bonding experience for all players and coaches involved. It represents the first trip of its kind for EURFC and is offered to our players as a way to prepare for the 2025/2026 season with renewed intensity, cohesion and focus.
Who are you?
With 10 men’s and 3 women’s teams, EURFC provides the opportunity for players of all abilities to compete at University level. The Club’s Men's Saturday League side compete in National 2 West, having been promoted as champions from the South West Premier in 2022. This is the highest level that the club has played at in the English rugby pyramid. An elite club needs elite training and that is the aim of bringing our players to Tignes this Summer.
Where will the money go?
Your donation will help subsidise this once in a lifetime experience for one of our students. With the cost of living for university students higher than ever, being able to afford the travel, accommodation and training costs for the week in Tignes is a tough ask, and places those students from less wealthy backgrounds at a disadvantage. By subsidising the trip through donations, we can help to level the playing field and ensure that none of our players need miss out on this unique opportunity.We have set a target of £15,000, which, when combined with other forms of support offered by the University, will subsidise the costs of the trip by roughly £500 per student. This will make an enormous difference to their capacity to attend and enjoy the trip.
