We are raising £1650 to hold Qawwali night at the University of Exeter for students and locals to experience the Sufi culture of Pakistan. This includes the cost of inviting Chand Ali Qawwali group, who will be coming from London, their accommodation and the arrangement of light, stage and music system setup
Your story
We are University of Exeter Pakistani Society and we are affiliated with the student's guild. This event aims to expose people to eloquent Pakistani folk singing or 'Qawaali' which forms a dominant part of Pakistani Sufi Culture. As a minority society, we feel this event would be a good way to represent Pakistani culture at Exeter University. The event would be the first of its kind in both the society's and Exeter's history! This will be an excellent way to demonstrate the positive side of Pakistan through an once in a lifetime evening of traditional Sufi music. Furthermore, it will be an opportunity for the people to enjoy and learn about other cultures which will engender a more diversified and inclusive image of Exeter University.
Where will the money go?
This money covers the cost of the Qawwali group coming to Exeter, their accommodation and music equipment costs.
Qawwali Group - £1500 (including travel and accommodation cost)
Equipment Set Up by the venue - £100
Cushions for Artists - £70.00
Food For Artists - £50.00
To hold the event we need to raise £1,650 to cover the costs of the musicians coming to Exeter and the venue and equipment hire costs. If we hit our target of £1,800 from donations and ticket sales for this event, the extra funds will go into enabling further society activities to take place.
Make your donation really count
Thanks to an offer from the University Annual Fund, the next £200 donated, will be matched with another £200.
