Creating an inclusive and accessible full-scale musical open to all students

We are a group of students at the University of Exeter who aim to help a wider range of students access musical theatre. We want to pay for the licensing rights, theatre hire, tech, set and props for Disney's High School Musical The Musical that will be performed in Term 2 (approximately March 2025) of the 2024-25 academic year.

Our aim as a production is to provide a full-scale musical theatre show experience to a large number of students at the University. Our focus is inclusivity. In particular, providing opportunities to disabled people, low-income students, students from other underrepresented groups and those who otherwise do not feel welcomed in the current Exeter University musical theatre provision.

We hope that we can present a more accessible option to students due to our aims, the cost, the use of a popular show to engage those with less musical theatre experience (with High School Musical they’ll know what they’re getting into), and by working with societies who represent groups whom we aim to target.

We believe that we are currently the only production of a licensed musical by a society at the University of Exeter who will cast everyone who auditions. With your support, you can help us get closer to our goal of producing this inclusive new production in 2025.

Donations will be put towards licensing rights, hire of the theatre venue, technical requirements for the show, set and props costs. Thank you so much for your support.
