About Amélie: The Musical!
Shotgun Theatre intends to continue their run of bringing cutting-edge theatre to the Barnfield stage through our production of Amélie the Musical. Adapted from the well-known 2001 film written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant, this version shall bring to life the story of a woman whose small, content world of kindness and chaos becomes full and colourful as she learns that in order to seek love and human connection, she has to take risks.
Amélie the Musical follows Amélie Poulain, an introverted young woman in Paris who lives in her vivid imagination. Determined to improve others’ lives, she performs anonymous acts of kindness, secretly bringing joy to those around her. Her journey changes when she meets Nino, a fellow dreamer who makes her confront her fears and embrace love.
Help us to achieve in dramatising this wonderful story in February as Amélie finds the courage to seek her own happiness as well as bringing kindness to those around her!
Amélie the Musical is based on the 2001 romantic comedy film of the same name with music by Daniel Messé and Nathan Tysen (Tuck Everlasting, The Burnt Part Boys, Fugitive Songs), with lyrics by Daniel Messé and a book by Craig Lucas.
