Help Exeter Comedy Society GO to Fringe!
Hello! We are Exeter Comedy Society, a student group made up of people across multiple disciplines all with a shared interest in comedy. We perform shows and run workshops in sketch, stand-up and improv comedy. We are crowdfunding to take a show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026. Every year it is a tradition of the society to take a show up to the Fringe. It is a great opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the shoes of a performer, producer or director for a week. Attending Fringe is not just about having fun, attendees gain insights into the arts sector and have the chance to network with other performers and industry professionals. We are fundraising because the funding we used to benefit from has been cut but we are still determined to continue opening doors for the passionate and talented members we have!
HOw your donation will be used
As the current president and previous treasurer I (Bethan) am heading up the Fringe fundraising/organisation team. I led the fundraising efforts for Fringe 2024 by running a raffle which raised £600 towards Fringe. In addition, the society ringfenced profits from our termly shows to put towards our fringe costs and ran specific fundraiser social events. We aim to do similar things this year to meet our goal alongside opening this crowd funder. Your donations will be used to fund our main expenses:
- Venue hire for one week - typically £1000
- Accommodation for students - £3000 for a 10 students as of 2024
Donations help us pay these costs upfront rather than passing them onto our students. As a society and as an individual I am really passionate about reducing the barriers to the fringe, it is such an amazing experience for students and as much as possible we want every talented individual to be able to audition without worrying about their finances.
